My name is Ayten Hanford

I started my course with ElmHouse training on 01/11/2018. The course I attended was 'The children and young people's workforce Diploma level 3'.I started a little later than the other people in my course class, but i was able to catch up. I officially completes the course on 24/02/2019 after starting my work placement a little later than everyone else. After receiving my certificate I continued to volunteer at my placement once a week while searching for job roles. I was approached by my placement headteacher and was informed about a temporary position at the school and he would like me to apply for it, which i did. I attended an interview and was also observed in an activity which i had to plan before hand. To my delight i was offered the position with immediate effect. My contract has now been extended and i am hoping to stay on permanently. I am so grateful for the help and support i have received from Elmhouse training during this journey. I have become a much more confident person. Hopefully in the future i can look into studying my teachers degree and move up to become a qualified teacher. Thank you ElmHouse for giving me that stepping stone to start off this career path.

thanks to the course I was able to find employment in a nursery setting. This course let me gain knowledge that is helping me everyday at work I’m am able to build positive relationships and communicate effectively at work with my colleagues, children and parents. Also it helped me build up my self confidence and become a happier person.

I might add that I’m my second month of work we got ofsted inspection, which I was terrified of but thank to Zebina teaching us about all legislations, prevent duty, health and safety I was confident in answering all questions I was asked by the inspector. We got GOOD.

My advice to new learners is that to take it seriously, don’t leave your assignments till later do them on time, read, research and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Course taken: Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People Workforce.

How has the course helped you in your new job?

The course has helped my confidence grow in working with young people and children. I have also interacted well with children and young people. I have also stepped forward to volunteer to lead a youth group at my church too. I have been employed in a local school that my children also attend.

Do you have any advice for new learners to be successful on the course?

My advice for new learners on the course would be to ask questions. More questions spring up your curiosity and that is a key part of learning too.
